Model of a Lego Mindstorms NXT Sumo bot. The object of the sumo game: Push the other robot out of the ring. The objectives of our creation was to be low to the ground and still have all of the required functions.

All the features we wanted the robot to have:
- Low Center of Gravity
- Less than 2lb
- Utilize the NXT Tracks
- Include Color sensor and Ultrasonic sensor
Building the Robot:
When we started building the robot we realized that the robot needed to have solid front and rear bumpers. We decided that the robot also needed the Color sensor to sense the outside perimeter. The robot also needed to have the ultrasonic sensor to sense the opponent.
While building the robot it was evident that there would be design challenges. One of the design challenges included staying under the 1ft x 1ft width and length limit. The other main design challenges was to build small yet remain under the 2lb limit.
At the start of each match the robot waits for three seconds then the robot goes forward 0.75 rotations then it turns to face the opponent robot as per the IEEE official rules. Then the robot Scans for the opponent. After the robot found the opponent the robot drove until the color sensor detected the perimeter of the game board. Then the robot backs up for 2 rotations at re-starts the scanning phase.
